Variables in PHP start with the $ sign, followed by the name of the variable.

$txt = "Hello, World!";
$number = 123;
?>

<?php

$txt = "Hello, World!";

$number = 123;

PHP Variables Scope

Variables declared outside functions have a global scope.

<?php
$x = 5;
function myTest() {
    global $x;
    echo $x;
}

?>

<?php

$x = 5;

function myTest() {

global $x;

echo $x;

}
